Bridge Dances

Good Morning!

What’s a BRIDGE Dance, you ask?  It’s three hours of dancing where we BRIDGE the gap between new line dancers & experienced ones.  I ran them regularly before covid hit, and they were extremely popular.  It’s different than the line dancing you’re used to where everyone dances the same line dance on the floor at the same time (called FULL FLOOR line dancing).  Bridge Dances feature SPLIT FLOOR line dancing, a trick I learned from my Willowbrook Ballroom days.  TWO line dances are done on the floor concurrently; we do this a little during our Tuesday dances at Gambit’s.  This allows you to dance during the three-hour time block as much as you wish to, depending on the level of complexity you prefer.  No more sitting around waiting for the couples to finish their set, or wondering if the line dance is too hard to catch!

Since this past July, Beginner 1 dancers (as in, those new to line dancing) have been learning the DWJ curriculum of Sessions 3, 4, & 5.  I’ve been asked to resume Bridge Dances, so I have one on the calendar in a little more than TWO WEEKS, on Sunday December 4th, from 1 – 4 pm at the Wheaton VFW.  The dances featured will be from those 3 sessions, plus a few more.  Intermediate (experienced) line dancers won’t be bored, as their dances will be done at the same time, to the same song, in the back half of the room.  I’ll be in the front with the easier dances, and will run through each one before the music starts.

Wanna practice?  The playlist follows.  And – oh yeah – please pre-register!!  If I don’t have at least 25 people registered, I’ll cancel this dance.  It’s just more fun with PEOPLE!!!  Cost is $15 ahead of time, and $20 at the door, as this is a premium event.  I will lead you for the full three hours, and if it is successful again, I’ll offer Bridge dances quarterly.  Sign up at https://www.dancewithjanet.com/upcomingevents.
